Even then, the microing just involves moving firing together etc. Mercs might be the only things worth microing and some early game units. The attack move button is bugged, and there's almost no 'abilities' that units have to make for a more micro intensive game. Rock paper scissors will usually dictate battles, and the amount of microing involves aiming cannon at troops for maximum efficiency and getting counters to fight what they counter. Fighting wise, this game is semi cookie cutter with 2-3 types of infantry and 2 types of calvary and 2 basic types of cannons ( I know I put a lot of things together, but lets face it, units without special abilities that serve same purpose will usually be the same basic type). There are up and downsides to both games however, I think for someone that is interested in a 'skill' oriented game, WC3 easily takes the cake.
With that said, I will most likely be biased to WC3, but still give AOE3 justice). (i am a long time wc3 player, and a semi professional in the RTS sector of gaming with much experience backing my claims up. After playing both games, I would like to make a comment on these 2 games.
